James Museum of Western Art Docent Conversation

In May 2020 I was invited to join in a Zoom conversation with Sara Hoddinott, a docent at the James Museum of Western Art in St. Petersburg, Florida. We talked about Jim Vogel’s painting A Time for Every Purpose (2007), and its relationship to the American Realist Movement and Thomas Hart Benton.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City is the repository of a large number of Tom Benton’s paintings, including Persephone. Benton was born in Missouri and returned to Missouri to teach at the Kansas City Art Institute from 1935 to 1941.

The Museum posted our conversation on their website.
